Welsh B Ponies since 1966

Premium stallion Moorkieker Dauphin, winner of the driving performance test for pony stallions in Thüle on October 12th, 2008 with the mark 8,38

The Moorkieker stud is the oldest active Welsh B stud in Germany. It was founded in 1966. You can see some Moorkieker ponies on this website, which were Foal Champions, Youngstock Champions, many times Adult Champions and Supreme Champions and also Champions when they got their stallion license. In 2005 the Moorkieker stud presented the National Champion Mare of the three-year-old Welsh B Ponies of the FN. The mare (Moorkieker Highness) was also National Reserve Champion of all Welsh B Pony ages. At the 15th International Welsh Pony Show in Belgium ‘05 started Moorkieker Gawain in a very strong class and won the Adult Championship of the section B. After 19 years he is the first Welsh B Pony bred in Germany which got this cup. In the  english   Welsh   Journal   2006 (p. 390) the judge, Len Bigley from the Llanarth Stud, has written the following statement: “[...] The stallion class was well filled with some promising young stallions right down the line. It will be interesting to follow their future. Moorkieker Gawain by Downland Goldflake, a full brother to Downland Goldleaf, and out of a descendent of Belvoir Thalia by Coed Coch Berwynfa, was an interesting stallion. Right up to height with bone and extravagant action in front and behind and coupled with a lovely Welsh head, he must be an asset to Welsh breeding in the Czech Republic. We perhaps could do with more of this type in the UK. [...] After a great deal of discussion the Section B Championship was won by the stallion with the brood mare a very close Reserve! These are two section Bs that, in my opinion, undoubtedly fulfil the original breed standards.”
